Process

To participate in the 2026 NSF Chemistry Early Career Investigator Workshop, you need to submit an Application as outlined below by March 30, 2026 using the Google Form below. After we complete the selection process, we will send out registration information to the invited participants in early April.

The application will consist of the following materials:

  • A one-page, NSF-style project summary (see NSF’s grant proposal guidelines).

  • A summary figure or scheme illustrating the proposed work.

  • A NSF-style biographical sketch using SciENcv (see NSF’s FAQs for using SciENcv)

  • A statement of support from the department chair certifying:

    1. The applicant has not received federal funding as a lead PI during their independent career in direct support of their research* as of the submission date,

    2. The applicant will be eligible to submit a NSF-CAREER proposal in 2026 and/or 2027**

    3. A commitment from the department to support the participant’s travel and lodging costs, or an explanation to the contrary,

    4. Confirmation that this applicant is the sole nominee from this department. (See FAQs for more information on the sole nominee conditions)

There is no registration fee to attend the workshop. However, attendees are expected to cover their own travel and lodging costs. 

*Applicants who have received postdoctoral training grants, served as a co-PI on a federal grant, or served as lead PI on MRI or REU grants are eligible.
